H&D 3rd XI faced top of the table & unbeaten Bashley Rydal 4s @ Jones Lane with the 1s & 2s playing away. For some it was a rare experience to play league cricket at the main ground and boy did they make advantage of it.
Bashley to be fair were under strength compared to the trouncing they gave us a few weeks earlier. But they must have thought they had plenty in the tank to beat this ageing side of 4th teamers.
Bash batted first posting a par 222 for 5 from their 40 overs. Thomas Hayward-Cox hit 102* and Piers Scott 49 as the pair added 132 for the 2nd wicket. For Hythe Fraser Smith probably bowled his finest spell for Hythe taking 2-38 whilst Dan Duell 1-20 off 6 was the most economical.
Hythe needing 5.5 an over were 35 for 2 when Shaun Moss & Tariq Islam came together and put on a terrific partnership of 126 before Moss fell for a fine 88. Hythe then lost Pete Miller & Zac Moss chasing the 7 runs an over required but Tariq 72* showed all his experience with Dan Duell 17* to lead Hythe home with 17 balls remaining.
