With more cricket being played than ever the pressure on the square & ground has never been greater. The square is used by our 1st & 2nd team plus cup sides, friendly cricket & colts cricket. We have struggled on for a few years with aging equipment constantly repairing & patching up our old machinery.
Our mower is in particularly bad shape & repairing it is not financially viable. Last year we ‘borrowed’ a mower however this has been returned to its owner!
Through the hard work of Steve Chiverton we have raised a decent sum to go towards the purchase of a second hand mower. If we can raise the remaining funds this will last us for ten years allowing standards to be maintained on the square.Without this we will need to reduce the amount of cricket played with the colts likely to suffer the most as they will need to move back to the Astro.
The outfield has suffered badly due to the extremely wet winter.For the last five years or so the club have paid a contractor to renovate the outfield but due to the weather & the usual winter football not being played as a result of the weather we are very short of revenue & are struggling to cover the costs of this.
We are marked on our outfield by the league & any drop in standards may harm any chance of promotion for our first team. We are extremely proud of how we have transformed our ground over the last five years & now meet Southern Premier League (SPL) requirements & would like to maintain these standards this benefits the whole club.
